Session 11

Pillar of gold inscribed w/ runes
Has an aura of illusion magic.
Igbot placed a gold coin in one of the slots framing the pillar, which caused the pillar to open.

Ghost Room
Subject's ghost sitting in throne room saying a phrase and repeating it.
Ghost is framed by two statues that look like him.

Brother Niar takes a medallion of a 7 point star from the ghost's neck.
Magical Amulet (+1 all saving throws, +10hp, affects appearance of wearer negatively)

Group obtains expertly crafted surgical tools from the room.

Pit of Fire Room

Group contacts a group of 7 Tooth Goblins on the road back to Sandpoint.
The goblins quickly surrender themselves.

Sandpoint
Large festival to celebrate the return of the Heroes of Sandpoint.
A play by the name of "The Saints of Sandpoint" has been playing in the city which portrays the heroes as:
Alex - The stalwart hero.
Brother Niar - The fatherly teacher.
Kadir - The wayward soul.
Igbot - The raunchy casa nova.

Amiko contacts the group and says that Madame Mavashi spoke with her and explained how her brother had been killed.
Reveals she knows it was a suicide.

Brother Quink - The Archivist
Flips out upon seeing the magical amulet found in the fire pit room.
Identifies the amulet as a Thaselonian Artifact.
7 Sided Star: Each side representing the Thaselonian tenants, both good and evil.
Brother Niar gives Brother Quink the key that was used to open the Fire Pit room as a gesture of good will towards his research.

Igbot contacts the city merchant
The merchant accuses Igbot of sleeping with one of his daughters, Katrina, at the Lumbermill.

Brother Niar and Father Zantos
Father Zantos asks about the priest who's remains were stolen: Brother Toben.
Father Zantos explains that Nuaria wanted to use Brother Toben's remains as a sacrifice, even though he adopted her.
Father Zantos asks for help in finding out what happened to an artifact: The Argacon.
It has 3 jewels embedded in it and has the ability to resurrect the dead.
The caravan that was transporting the artifact never made it to its desitination.

She informs Alexander of The Sandpoint Devil.
An intelligent creature that lusts for treasure and dwells in The Devil's Platter.
She provides Alexander with a print of the creature, so he can identify it.

Igbot wakes up in the inn to find his belt buckle and boot heel missing.

Speaks of a recent bout of murders in the city.
The killings are copycat scenes to that of The Chopper.

"We have spoken of this before, my master. Now it begins. Join the pack and it will end."
The note is addressed to Igbot in blood.

1st murder case in the city were three men's bodies found in a barn south of Sandpoint.

Session 10

Session 10

The group starts back at the briar maze.
The group crosses the 45ft chasm to the island fort by lassoing a group to one of the bridge pegs and having Igbot tightrope across with the rope bridge attached to him.
The group searches the rest of the Thistletop Fort.

The group runs into an aberration with a poison stinger and flailing tentacles.
The creature is dispatched.
Five goblin bodies are strewn around the aberration; dessicated husks without innards.
Magical Armor of Dog Hides (UNK properties) is taken from one of the goblin bodies.

“Once the whispering beast is tamed Sandpoint will fall.”
“In addition to the goblins, we will also be aided by the creatures of the deep.”

The group enters a room with a workbench covered with scrolls and scriptures.
A woman with ebony skin is inside the room with a cat.
The dwarf attacks the woman without much provocation.
“Malfeshnakor!” Yelled by the woman as a curse towards the group.
She was carrying a Evocation Wand, BLU Potion, six (6) scrolls (Sleep, Comprehend Languages, Minor Image, See Invisibility, Whispering Wind), exotic dark cloak (enchantment aura), dagger, everburning torch, small bag of artifacts (hair, fingernail clippings, used handkerchiefs, pearl earring)

The group goes downstairs.
The first room has two statues in it. Both of which are wizards.
“Do you know Karzoog?” In reference to the Runelords.
“Karzoog will eat your eyes.”

The People of Sandpoint: Brodert Quink


Sandpoint is fortunate to have an expert on the ancient ruins that dot Varisia's landscape. Brodert Quink is an expert on Varisian history who moved to Sandpoint recently to study the town's own Thassilonian ruin, the Old Light. Brodert is tremendously excited to be living in the shadow of a runelord ruin, and does everything he can to aid those seeking information on this topic.

Unfortunately, much of the lore about ancient Thassilon has been lost. What does remain has been gathered from barely legible carvings on the surviving monuments or extracted from the myths and oral traditions of Varisian seers and storytellers. What Brodert does know about ancient Thassilon is that it was a vast empire ruled by powerful wizards. The sheer size of the monuments they left behind testifies to their power and the unnatural way many of these monuments have resisted erosion and the march of time testifies to their skill at magic. Most sages place the height of the Thassilon Empire at 7,000 to 8,000 years ago, but Brodert thinks the empire was even older. He suspects it collapsed no sooner than 10,000 years in the past.

Much of what Brodert has to say is vague theory based on conjecture. His belief that the Old Light was once a war machine capable of spewing fire from its peak is relatively unpopular among his peers, for example. Yet he can tell interested listeners a few things of interest about the strange seven pointed star, namely, that it seems to be one of the most important runes of Thassilon.

The People of Sandpoint: Madame Mvashti


Niska Mvashti gives new meaning to the term "elder." Ancient even at Sandpoint's founding, Madame Mvashti is a Varisian historian and seer. Most of her readings are made with cards or carved bones, but in the Age of Lost Omens she shares the same sense of brooding and dread as many oracles, and rarely enjoys casting her predictions.

She lives in a large manor house which was built for her as part of the peace accord between the Sandpoint Mercantile League and local Varisians when the town was founded. It was agreed that the manor would revert to the town's control upon Madame Mvashti's death, but even decades later she is still a vibrant part of the Varisian community.

Even in her old age, she still enjoys walks in the forest with regional druids who come to town regularly to lead her on her outings

The People of Sandpoint: Aldern Foxglove


Aldern Foxglove is a handsome man, with medium-length brown hair and fair skin. He can often be seen wearing fine clothes befitting the aristocracy of Magnimar, whether hunting or carousing with women.

He is currently the master of the Foxglove manor and estate, a family with an interesting history in the town of Sandpoint, and one

Those who have the pleasure of conversing with Aldern typically find him charming, well-read and were often entertained by his seemingly endless cache of stories about the high life in Magnimar.

The party rescued Aldern from a goblin commando during the raid on Sandpoint - and in return he took the party boar-hunting and even bought a steed for each member. At the end of the trip, they enjoyed the boar fest together - and continued to pique the interest of the Sandpointian noble, who has seem to taken an interest in the party.

He also seems to have a genuine desire to perhaps take up the adventuring life himself, inspired by what he views as the heroism of the party's own Igbot, or the "pint-sized purveyor of justice," as Foxglove has referred to him.

The People of Sandpoint: Ameiko Kaijitsu


Ameiko Kaijitsu is best known in the town of Sandpoint as the proprietor of The Rusty Dragon, Sandpoint's oldest inn, notable for the impressive (and quite rusty) iron dragon that looms on the building's roof.
She's also notable for the many tattooes that cover her body and the changing colors of her hair, which seem to vary if not daily, at least weekly.
Along with her halfling assistant Bethana Corwin, the Rusty Dragon is notable for its extensive selection of succulent meats, ripe and fresh vegetables, and both local and exotic fruits - in addition to the excellent ales, lagers and Varisian wines the citizens of Sandpoint (and the odd dwarven cleric or two) enjoy.

Ameiko is the eldest daughter of Lonjiku Kaijitsu and Atsui Kaijitsu and half-sister of Tsuto Kaijitsu. She has recently returned to Sandpoint, and the Rusty Dragon, after a period of mourning outside. Her despair is from the very recent deaths of her father and brother - it seems that her brother, in league with the goblin parties attacking Sandpoint, murdered their father, and encased him in glass at the family's Glassworks factory.
Tsuto took his own life when the party cornered him in the basement of the Glassworks after dispatching a number of his gobling thugs - his story may forever remain a secret.

Ameiko has kept to herself after being freed from the party from Tsuto's clutches, and her emotional state can only be guessed at. She has breturned to the Rusty Dragon but has not yet made herself available, and Sheriff Hemlock and Mayor Deverin have respected her privacy. She is now the sole heiress to the Kaijitsu fortune.

Nualia's Story


Deep in the heart of the caverns underneath the goblin's stockade at Thistletop, our intrepid band of adventurers finally clashed, and defeated, Nualia Tobyn, she who had begun to gather the disparate goblin tribes of the western shores of Varisia into what might've been an army that could have destroyed Sandpoint.

Among her possessions, our party found her journal which detailed her story. Here it is:

Nualia was a foundling raised by Sandpoint’s previous religious leader, a man named Ezakien Tobyn. Nualia’s childhood was lonely and sad. Her unearthly beauty made the other children either jealous or shy, and many of them took to playing cruel jokes on her. The adults in town weren’t much better—many of the superstitious Varisians viewed Nualia as blessed by Desna, a sort of “reverse deformity.” Rumors that her touch or proximity could cure warts and rashes, that locks of her hair brewed into tea could increase fertility, and that her voice could drive out evil spirits led to endless awkward and humiliating requests over the years. Poor Nualia felt more like a freak than a young girl by the time she came of age, so when Delek Viskanta, a local Varisian youth, began to court her, she practically fell into his arms in gratitude.

Knowing that her father wouldn’t approve of a relationship with a Varisian (he wanted her to remain pure so that she could join one of the prestigious Windsong Abbey convents), they kept the affair secret. They met many times in hidden places, a favorite being an abandoned smuggler’s tunnel under town that Delek had discovered as a child. Before long, Nualia realized she was pregnant. When she told Delek, he revealed his true colors and, after calling her a slut and a harlot, fled Sandpoint rather than face her father’s wrath. Nualia’s shock quickly turned to rage, yet she had nowhere to vent her anger. She bottled it up, and when her father discovered her delicate condition, his reaction to her indescretions only furthered her shame and anger. He forbade her to leave the church, lectured her nightly, and made her pray to Desna for forgiveness. In so doing, he unknowingly nurtured her growing hate.

When the runewell in the Catacombs of Wrath flared to life, Nualia’s own anger was a magnet to its magic. Seven months pregnant, the wrathful energies suffused her mind and she flew into a frenzy. She miscarried her child later that night, a child whose monstrously deformed shape she only glimpsed before blanching midwives stole it away to burn it in secret. As the child had been concieved in the smuggler’s tunnels below town, in close proximity to a hidden shrine to Lamashtu (the goddess of monstrous births), the child itself was deformed and horrific. The double shock of losing a child and the realization she had been carrying a fiend in her belly for seven months was too much. Nualia fell into a coma.

As Nualia slept, she dreamed unhealthy dreams. Fueled by the wrath from below and the taint of Lamashtu, Nualia became further obsessed with the cruel demon goddess and the conviction that her wretched life was inflicted on her by those around her. She came to see her angelic heritage as a curse, and the demon-sent dreams showed her how to expunge this taint from her body and soul, replacing it with chaos and cruelty. When she finally woke, Nualia was someone new, someone who didn’t flinch at what Lamashtu asked of her. She jammed her father’s door shut as he slept, lit the church on fire, and fled Sandpoint.

The locals assumed Nualia had burned in the fire, a tragedy made all the worse by the death of Father Tobyn as well. Yet Nualia lived. She fled to Magnimar, where she enlisted the aid of a group of killers known as the Skinsaw Men. With their aid, she tracked down Delek and murdered him. Yet his death did not fill her need for revenge. Sandpoint and its hated citizens still lived.

Seeing a kindred spirit in the tortured woman, the mysterious leader of the Skinsaw Men gave Nualia a medallion bearing a carving of a seven-pointed star called a “Sihedron medallion.” Nualia learned that she had a larger role to play, and that her dreams were a map to her destiny. Taking the advice to heart, Nualia returned to Sandpoint, and found herself drawn to the brick wall in the smuggler’s tunnels where she and Delek had conceived her deformed child. Nualia bashed down the wall, and in so doing, discovered the Catacombs of Wrath and the quasit Erylium, also a follower of Lamashtu. For many months, Nualia studied under Erylium’s tutelage. During this time, Nualia received another vision from Lamashtu—a vision of a monstrous goblin wolf imprisoned in a tiny room. In Nualia’s dreams, she learned that this creature, a barghest named Malfeshnekor, was also one of Lamashtu’s chosen. If she could find him and free him, he would not only help her achieve her vengeance against the town of Sandpoint, but he would be the key in cleansing her body of what she had come to see as her “celestial taint.” Nualia wanted to be one of Lamashtu’s children now. She wanted to become a monster herself.

...of this barghest, "Malfeshnekor", the party knows only that Abadar has sent Brother Niar visions that it is close by, and that it yearns to be set free to finally satiate the hunger its suffered for thousands of years...

Session 9

The group met with Walter’s character (Necromantic Wizard) at the Rusty Dragon Inn.

Party gained a Wizard!

The group received a letter from E. Foxglove: “Where’s my horse?”

The group took off to the goblin fort for a third time.

En route to the fort, the group is stopped by a group of goblins on the road.

The said group of goblins get their asses kicked and promptly surrender.

The group tied them up and left the goblins on the road.

Upon their arrival, they quickly go through the briar maze.

At the end of the maze they find the bridge to the fort has been cut and three pikes sticking out of the ground in front of where the bridge use to be. Two of the heads are human children about 13 years old and the third is of a horse with a war bridle still attached.

The group threw a rope down alongside the cliff and climbed down to the shore.

While at the shore, a boat falls on the heads of Brother Niar and Igbot.

Group used the boat to get into a nearby cave.

In the cave they are attacked by an underwater monster.

The group made it to a 5’x5’ ledge that then led to a short hallway and small room with Ripnugget and four other goblins.

Boat is destroyed by a magical aberration beast.

Goblins are all slaughtered, and Alexander bartered with the beast.

The beast left the party alone in exchange for five goblin bodies (+150xp)

Session Two (Work in Progress)

Session Two

The adventurers returned to the Rusty Dragon, where Alexander soothed his anger with a mug of ale. Not one to miss a good time to drink, Brother Niar grabbed his own mug and joined in. With a quick prayer to Abadar, the dwarf dipped his thumb in to his mug of ale and then wiped it over Alexander’s eye. Alexander gave a confused look to Brother Niar before he noticed the pain on his face had been wiped away by the priest’s hand. Brother Niar flicked the rest of the ale to the ground, gave Alexander an amused smile, and continued to drink.

Derrick excused himself for the day, saying he had personal matters to attend to in the city. Alexander wiped off the cold ale from his face and watched the knight leave. While he followed Derrick across the room, his eyes stopped on what appeared to be a diminutive full grown man sitting on a high stool by the bar. He couldn’t have been taller than a child who lived past three winters, and yet his features were distinctly that of a mature adult. Alexander watched with a look of amazement as Amiko produced a small mug for the small man and proceeded to fill it with ale.

Brother Niar watched Alexander’s curious amazement and laughed. He wondered if all humans are so naïve. He asked Alexander if he’d ever seen a gnome before. Alexander shook his head and continued watching. Brother Niar pointed out to him that there were more important things to worry about than races Alexander had never met, like the goblin raid that occurred the night before. Alexander agreed, but he had to know more about the small stranger, convinced that he would never get the chance to meet another if he didn’t approach him now.

Alexander walked over to the gnome and introduced himself. The gnome greeted Alexander with a glint in his eye, which quickly looked him up and down. Judging Alexander was not a threat and didn’t have anything on him worth trying to steal, he introduced himself as Igbot. With a lack of social grace befitting a human raised on a farm, Alexander proceeded to ask Igbot about his gnomish heritage. He asked if there were any more gnomes in the area, how they were able to live in places where everything was so large to them, and an assortment of other questions that Igbot casually answered. Brother Niar watched in disbelief while Alexander asked questions that bordered on insulting. Not a stranger to human curiosity, Igbot could tell Alexander was sincere in his questioning and played along with the conversation.

Alderan Foxglove walked downstairs from his room and joined them at the bar. Amiko placed his meal on the counter for him before he finished pushing his seat in to place. He looked at his plate and asked Amiko why he hadn’t been served any meat. Amiko wiped her hands on her apron and explained that the goblins had either eaten or taken the food stores around the village, so patrons and residents alike had to make do with the food shortage. Alderan snorted in annoyance and ate while he listened in to Alexander speaking with Igbot. He quickly joined in their conversation, with the same amount of interest but with greater insight. Alderan instantly read from Igbot’s clothes and demeanor that the gnome was a capable adventurer. Aware of the adventurer’s nature of accepting requests that had quick returns, he renewed his offer to Alexander and Brother Niar on hunting for boar near the city. He invited Igbot as well, explaining the more in the group the easier the hunt would be. Amiko agreed that more meat would help fill her stores and perhaps aid in feeding some of the injured from the assault.

The three adventurers agreed to go on the hunt. Alderan, beside himself for the event, quickly left the inn and purchased two horses and a pony. He gave the horses to Alexander and Brother Niar, and handed the bridled pony to Igbot. Brother Niar grudgingly took his offer, seeing the gift more for its financial potential than practical use. Were it not for the horse's instant affection towards him, and the boar's den being a couple of hours walk from the city, the dwarf would have outright refused to ride the beast.

Alderan led the group on horseback to the location of a known boar den. On the ride, he questioned his companions about their origins and abilities. Igbok spoke about his prowess with his blade, which he named “Wisp”, about running from the imposed responsibility of the family business, the many blades that adorn his person, what little he knows about the arcane arts, and how long he would be staying in the city. Brother Niar talked about his stay in Sandpoint, his priestly duties in the service of Abadar, and of the various virtues that were inherent in the worship of such a fine deity. Brother Niar would have lectured the entire trip (talking helped him forget he was riding a horse), but Alderan interrupted him to throw a barb at Alexander.

Alexander was watching the path they traveled, trying to memorize it in case it was a good hunting spot, when Alderan asked him if it the dog killed during the onset of the goblin siege belonged to him. Alexander nodded. Alderan chortled and commented on how easily the dog was slain. He mused out loud that the dog must have been very cowardly to have died so quickly without even putting up a fight. Alexander remained silent, tightened his grip on his horse’s mane, and continued riding. He was taught long ago that killing a noble for having a scathing tongue was more trouble than it was worth.

Alderan, unable to catch Alexander’s sudden enmity, continued talking back changed the subject. He spoke about the locations near the city of Sandpoint that adventurer’s might be interested in hearing about. He spoke ancient ruins the people of Sandpoint called “the old light”. He was unable to answer what the ruins were used for prior to their decrepit state, but he mentioned Bropert Quink, the city’s archivist, who would know about the surrounding history. Alderan also spoke about an island near the city, which was occupied by a single small house. He was vague on any details on the island, but again advised that Bropert Quink would have information the group needed.

With an abrupt stop, Alderan told the group they had arrived to the boars’ den. He led them off the main path and to a small clearing in the woods where a lone boar sniffed at what appeared to be a tomb stone. The boar was full grown and massive in size. Igbok remained a distance away, pulled out a dagger, and threw it at the boar before Alexander even notched an arrow. The blade slid in to the boar’s head with a thud as the hilt stopped at the skull. Without even time to squeal, the boar died and fell. Igbok retrieved his dagger from the animal’s skull, and wiped it clean of blood. Alderan didn’t spare a moment before he began praising the gnome’s skill in throwing daggers.

Alexander and Brother Niar went to take a closer look at the tomb stone. Brother Niar commented on how the stone had been hewn to its current shape, and had been created decades, if not centuries, ago. He was unable to tell if it went down any further or if it was part of a larger structure. It was strange to him that anyone would leave such a piece of stone work out in the middle of the wilderness. Alderan cut short the dwarve’s thoughts, and pointed out the sun would set before their arrival to the city if they didn’t leave soon. Alexander quickly prepared the boar for travel, and the group returned to Sandpoint.

Back in the city, they went to the Rusty Dragon and provided Amiko with the fresh boar meat. Amiko gladly took the meat and prepared a delicious meal with it for the group. They were served by an elder female halfling, who introduced herself as a servant for the Lonjiko family. She spoke of the Lonjiko’s other business, which was the glass works factory in the city. She also mentioned several mysteries that have followed the family, one of which was the untimely death of Amiko’s mother. The group finished their meal and called it a night.

Before going to bed, Alexander went out to the stables to check on the horses. Out by the stables, he was greeted by a gangly fellow with long hair. He quickly recognized Alexander as one of the adventurer’s who took part killing the goblins during the raid. With a proud smile he displayed to Alexander ten goblin ears nailed up against a wall of the stables. They spoke about the raid, and Alexander mentioned to him about Father Zantos’ dazed ramblings after the fight had been won. The man commented on how the church has been stolen from in the past, but would not give any further information about what had been stolen. He bade Alexander a good night, and left him to take care of the horses.

Session One

Alexander, Brother Niar, and Sir Derrick have been in the city of Sandpoint for several days up until the day of the Swallow Tail Festival. Each of them with their own reasons for staying. Alexander, after guiding several of the festival’s guests to the city, provided further assistance by hunting game and selling the meat to the butchers. Brother Niar remained per the request of Father Zantos, who required his blessing on the behalf of Abadar for the deity’s wing in the new church. Derrick, being the noble knight of Dezna that he is, awaited the sanctifying of the church for his own personal reasons.

The three adventurers, still strangers to each other, waited for the sanctification of the church near its front steps. A large crowd of people bustled about the square, purchasing various goods like curried salmon, winter mead, jerky, and various other foods while they waited for the commencements to begin.

After leaving his trusty dog, Redcoat, underneath a carriage, Alexander went to barter with the butcher in the square with clean meat from a fresh kill. While attempting to get the butcher's attention with the large slab of venison on his back, Alexander was approached by well armed individual who introduced himself as Valaros, an escort and guide to various young women. Valaros presented his broken shortbow to Alexander, and explained that the string to his bow had snapped. Without any string of his own, he was unable to repair the bow. Alexander quickly sold his goods to the butcher, and helped Valaros fix his weapon. Tired of babysitting young maidens, Valaros stayed at Alexander's side, and regaled him with stories of adventure from his walks across the plains of Varisia.

With Valaros at his side, Alexander walked over to an impromptu wooden stand, painted with various bright colors and adorned with equally as colorful pieces of cloth, which served as a stage for a puppet show of the church's history. Alexander watched as a paper cutout church waved in the background covered in flames while a motley patched priest puppet gave a rousing speech to the crowd and quickly bounced his way in to the burning church. Amused by the puppet presentation of the church’s history, Alexander looked up the massive new structure and stood impressed. Only five years after the church was burned down, it had been rebuilt on a larger scale with five wings for the various faiths and its main building for the worship of Desna, the goddess of dreams and luck.

Derrick enjoyed the festival's various foods and drink, standing by the food merchants amongst the crowd of people holding up their coin. Wearing his scale armor, his large shield on his back, and his sword on his side, he towered over the people around him. He was approached by a gentleman who introduced himself as Elden Foxglove, who shook Derrick’s hand and quickly asked, "Are you a hero," without missing a beat. A bit at a loss for words, Derrick didn't know how to respond to the man’s question, but Elden quickly assured him that he looked like a hero and heroes were quite a rare commodity. With the same swift stride and quick gestures that Elden used to ntroduced himself, he left Derrick to join the rest of the crowd.

Brother Niar, the sole Dwarf present in the square during the festivities, kept to himself near the front of the new church. He quietly drank the winter mead provided from the Rusty Dragon stand, and watched people walk by. A young girl who smelled pungently of flowers, with long fair blonde hair, and loose clothing, took a spot at his side with a look of guilt on her face. She asked Brother Niar if his god was merciful to those that pronounced their sins. Brother Niar looked the young girl over and gravely told her Abadar judged the sins of his followers with an even hand that dealt out punishment and reward to those who deserved as such. She introduced herself as Shalis Vaigner, and expressed her dislike for judgmental gods before disappearing back in to the crowd. Brother Niar resumed his drinking with her depature.

Alexander, Valaros, Derrick, and Brother Niar all congregated at the Rusty Dragon stand for a mug of winter mead. As they drank to the sanctity of the church, Father Zantos walked up to the dais in the middle of the square, garbed in pristinely white robes and red vestments laced in gold. The crowd quickly quieted and waited for the priest to speak. He took a deep breath, and just as he was about to speak, the sound of a dog screaming filled the air, followed by a high pitched laughter. Alexander looked to the carriage where he had left Redcoat across the square, and saw a retched goblin standing next to his dog's eviscerated corpse.

The people in the square panicked and ran towards the exits of the square. A sudden loud beating of tribal drums mixed with a cacophonous goblin song instilled further fear in the crowd. Alexander quickly notched an arrow, pulled his bow taut, and sent the arrow flying towards the goblin that killed his dog. The arrow struck, but the goblin lived. The creature gave a gleeful squeal, grabbed Redcoat's corpse, and charged Alexander with the corpse as a battering ram. The goblin pinned Redcoat on to Alexander's armor, and followed his victory with a vulgar goblin dance. Valaros drew his twin shortswords and swung at the goblin, but it deftly skipped around the blades. Derrick drew his own sword and cut the goblin down where it stood, putting an end to its mockery. More goblins poured in from various entrances, which invigorated Brother Niar to join the fight. Calling upon Abadar's blessing to Derrick's blade, Brother Niar then drew a mace and waited for the goblins to approach him. Without breaking a sweat, the party quickly dispatched the goblins foolish enough to enter the square.

Once the band of goblins in the square were dispatched, the adventurers’ senses returned to the beating drums in concert with a horrid song and people’s screams. Alexander, Derrick, Valaros, and Brother Niar quickly formed a war party and searched the city to find the source of the singing. They followed it to a large bonfire that was meant for the celebration. A hideous goblin female in a leather bikini laughed upon adventurers’ arrival and changed her song to a dirge. The goblins around her rushed the party, but each of which were pelted with arrows, smashed their skulls with a mace, and sliced to ribbons by sure blades. Derrick quickly cut the female goblin's throat and put an end to her song. Not having enough time to search the corpses for anything of value, Brother Niar grabbed the female goblin's corpse and dragged it behind him for further inspection when the situation settled.

The group followed the sounds of a woman's scream to the front of the Hag Gish pub, where they saw Elden Foxglove cowering for his life in front of a goblin riding a furless dog creature alongside a pack of goblins. Elden fled behind a barrel while the group rushed up to meet the threat. Derrick quickly felled the dog riding goblin by decapitating it in one swing, which was then followed by another slash that cut the goblin's mount in two. The remaining goblins were dispatched by the group.

While the party stood over the corpses of their enemies, the sound of drums were replaced by the footsteps and yells of the city's militia. It appeared the goblin siege was coming to an end. Elden slipped out from behind his cover and rushed up to Derrick, singing the paladin's praise to the world. Derrick took the man's rambling's in stride while sheathing his sword. Father Zantos , stumbled past the group in blood smeared tattered robes with a gaze that saw nothing. Brother Niar attempted to speak with him, but the priest only bemoaned the loss of an unknown object. When pressed as to what the object was, the priest shook his head and staggered away.

With the city no longer under siege, the group entered the Hag Fish Pub. Brother Niar still carried the female goblin's corpse behind him, and was quickly met by the pub's owner, Yargy Quinn. The man's battle worn body could not be mistaken for anything other than that of a former adventurer. His left leg was missing and his face was covered with various scars that nearly left him blind or without a nose. He yelled at Brother Niar for dragging in the goblin's filthy corpse in to his pub, which was filled with people mending their wounds from the battle. Brother Niar stood his ground, stating the corpse and its possessions were his bounty. Yargy looked the dwarf once over, grabbed a knife from the pub’s dart board, and proceeding to stab the goblin's corpse. Once the corpse resembled more an unrecognizable tatter of flesh, the pub owner's rage subsided and he welcomed his new guests.

Yargy gave his usual introduction to his establishment by bringing the adventurers' eyes to a hag fish the size of a dog in a fish tank filled with dank water. Yargy introduced her as, Nora, the pub's hag fish, and explained that any person capable of drinking a mug of her tank water would win a pouch of coins that hung over her tank. Brother Niar, no stranger to drinking brews that would curl a man’s toes, stepped up to the challenge. He quickly gulped down the water and just as quickly expelled it from his body. The wounded crowd gave the best cheer it could muster for the dwarf's attempt.

After Brother’s Niar’s noble attempt of stomaching the vile water, the group was approached by Shalis Vaigner. Brother Niar quickly recognized her smell of flowers before he could even see her. She told the group about her father, Venn Vaigner, who is the owner of one of the common goods stores in the city. With a feigned attempt of distress, she explained to the group that she needed an adventurer to clear out the store’s basement of an infestation of large rats. Her eyes locked on Alexander while she told her story. She asked him to help her slay the rats, and insisted that he alone should do it for her. Alexander, indifferent to Shalis, agreed to help her for a cost. Shalis clapped her hands in excitement and directed Alexander to arrive to her family store in the morning. Alexander shrugged.

The group noticed The Hag Fish Pub’s resting quarters were either covered in bandages and blood or dwarf vomit. They left the pub and went to the Rusty Dragon to look for lodgings. When they arrived at the inn, they were met at the front by a large iron statue of a dragon above the door. Amiko Hajitsu, the inn’s hostess with a beautiful smile and long pigtails that never appeared the same color twice, greeted the group once they walked in. She looked distracted while she spoke to the group. As she explained to the group that they could stay at the inn for without cost due to their assistance in protecting the city, Alexander noticed a splash of dry blood on her blouse sleeve. He asked her if she was fine or if anyone was injured inside the inn, but Amiko brushed off his questioning by looking away from him and bussing a counter. Derrick attempted to speak with Amiko to find out what troubled her, but even his charm was unable to make her speak.

Tired from the day’s fight, the group ate and went to their rooms. Brother Niar grabbed two bottles to help aid his sleep. Prior to drinking the second bottle and falling in to bed, he checked his spoils from the goblin bard, and to his annoyance found that none of her equipment was enchanted. Not even the leather bikini.

The next morning, Derrick wakes to a knocking at his door. Upon opening the door, Derrick was mildly confused as a man in red tights and pointy shoes walked in, jingling with each step. With a grandiose low bow, the stranger introduced himself as the manager of the Sandpoint Theater. He asked Derrick if he had ever been a part of a production, and explained that Derrick’s good looks were meant for the stage. He mentioned his partnership with the famous Sandpoint actress, Alishanda, and explained that Derrick would look stunning next to her on a stage. Derrick, at a loss for words with the man’s red wardrobe and outrageous demeanor, told him he had never worked on stage and such a thought had never crossed his mind. The man, refusing to be let down, told Derrick that if he changed his mind he could head to the Sandpoint Theater and get a taste of being an actor. The man bowed again, with his head nearly touching the ground, and left Derrick’s room.

While the group ate downstairs in the morning, Elden Foxglove joined them. He repeated his gratitude for being saved from the goblins and invited the group to a boar hunt. He spoke of an area he knew of where the largest boars near in the region roamed. The group took it in to consideration and left to Shalis’ family store.

Although Alexander had been instructed to arrive alone to clear the rats, he brought the group along. Shalis opened the door to her store with a smile that melted in to a frown when she saw Brother Niar, Derrick, and Valaros behind Alexander. Again she insisted Alexander follow her down to the basement alone. After negotiating a payment and obtaining some vials of alchemist fire from Shalis, Alexander agreed to head downstairs alone. Believing that if anything went wrong, the group would still be nearby, he followed Shalis downstairs. At the bottom of the steps, Alexander found a room filled with boxed goods and a straw bed in the back of the room. Shalis turned on him attempted to seduce him. Alexander, with no use for such a scrawny city girl, rebuked her and pushed her away. He turned to leave when he heard the sound of loud footsteps coming from the top of the stairs. Cursing his lack of insight on the ambush, Alexander drew a weapon and attempted to intimidate Shalis in not revealing him. Shalis glared at him, and ran up the stairs, crying for her father. Alexader quickly put away his weapon and met the mountain of a man that was Venn Vaigner. He attempted to explain Shalis’ trickery, but Venn refused to listen and punched Alexander in his face. Venn ordered Alexander to leave his store, which Alexander gladly agreed to.

Once outside of the store with the group, Derrick asked Alexander about the swelling around his eye. Too angry to speak, Alexander only grunted in reply and kept walking back to the Rusty Dragon. The party looked at each other and followed.

History

Niar was born clanless to a wretch of a woman, who cared more about her drug habits than the care for her son. The only good thing she did was to sell her baby to a traveling priest of Abadar. Brother Hanar. The priest of Abadar knew he could not save the mother but to the son he could bring stability and teach him a true calling. This is how Niar enter the priesthood of Abadar.

Niar upbringing within the priesthood was strict and any disobedience was met with harsh punishment. Niar received his fair share of punishment. It was not that Nair was a bad child he was just different being the only Dwarven member of the order within the temple. His mine was also set on adventure and he was often found, after lights out, stalking the grounds in search of imaginary treasure or fighting off some mythical creature.

Brother Hanar took the boy under his own tutelage and taught Niar all he knew of the order and his God Abadar. Hanar died before Niar ascended to become a full priest of the order. Niar took his death hard and his attitude changed and he took on a more serious approach. He finished his studies and became a full priest later that year. Niar never really was able to tell Hanar how much he loved the man that saved him from a wretched life as a clanless dwarf. Niar travels to Hanar grave each year to place flowers on his grave.

The elder of the order decided to send Niar from the temple to spread the teaching Abadar. Over the last 3 years Niar has done his best to teach all that are willing to listen of the greater glory of Abadar. Niar is currently traveling to Sandpoint at the request of his friend Abstalar Zantus to help with the dedication of their new church.
